Jenny Khafagi

Born and educated in Brisbane, Jenny Khafagi has performed throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and Canada as an orchestral and chamber musician. She plays regularly with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and has also toured throughout regional Australia with ACO2, the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s ‘younger sister’. Jenny represented Australia at the 2010 Pacific Music Festival in Japan, and travels regularly to Sydney to perform with the acclaimed Sydney Camerata, as well as being a casual member of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.

She held principal positions in the Queensland Youth Symphony, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the World Youth Chamber Orchestra, and was the first violinist in the Elston String Quartet from 2007-2009, holding a residency with scholarship at the Banff Centre in Canada.

Outside the classical arena, Jenny has performed and recorded with various indie and jazz artists including Belle and Sebastian, Martha Wainwright, Herbie Hancock, Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer and Lior. She also regularly records as part of a session orchestra for film and TV soundtracks.

Jenny is passionate and committed to the discovery and performance of new music, and is proud to be joining Syzygy Ensemble full-time.
